Iray snow & ice is a suite of shaders, props and a main snowfall system with varying material intensities to simulate snow and ice effects. Snow: The snowfall system uses staggered geometry on horizontal axis to cover a large area. Each face has unique uv co-ordinates and trans-mapped, subsurface shading to simulate snow in motion. This is less costly in terms of performance than full 3d snow drops, and covers much more ground. Props: Trees, snow piles and icy decals are included to populate your scene. Shaders: Supporting shaders are included and can be used to replace surfaces where snow and ice would be more feasible. The shaders make extensive use of refraction, back scattering, SSS and displacement to achieve realistic effects. Each shader can also be tiled and modified independent of UVs.
