"Speed Render Stages" is a great package to support your character renders, quick and easy. The platforms range from fantasy to scifi, and come with detailed textures. The skyboxes add a feel of scope and cover the full scene, making camera placement easy. Of course you can use the skyboxes with other sets, or the platforms with other skyboxes.
